Evolution#5: update...Less Fire, MORE GLOOM!

So! Worked on this one a bit more....she's starting to come alive! Usually around this point is where it starts to form seemingly by itself, sometimes not even with my own input. It's weird...you get in a "zone" during the act of painting and in time the painting comes together similar to what you (the painter) were expecting, but then again it's even better. Not to mention that even with such painful ideas it only gets more fun. And then, for the time being, no pain! No rage. It's all been puked out onto canvas. Works every time! She's not done quite yet, but she's almost there.

Evolutions #5: FIRE!!!!!!

Here's a new one I started about a week or so ago....It just needs to be done. I have felt so frustrated and tied up trying to control things i am not meant or able to control. And I also felt/feel everything so overwhelming that "I've had it up to here!!" doesn't suffice. Only an image could. So I began this. And it really is helping. This is a one-off kind of painting I sometimes make on the side during a creative block...but the act of starting and finishing them in a much less realistic, more abstract, visceral style helps to jump-start my imagination again. And it sure does feel better.

Evolutions #4: Update!

Here we go, again! Over the last week I didn't do too much painting, but I was able to rearrange the the proportions of the body back to something still resembling "human." And interesting (I didn't see it until now), it actually looks a LOT more like the original image i had in mind! (#1). Well - from about image 2 to image 3 it seems I got lost...but every painting goes through an "ugly" phase (or several!)...it's to be expected. Anyway, I found my way back. The 2 newest shots are enlarged and bordered in red. Enjoy!

Evolutions #4

Here's an oldie I thought I would try again...nearly threw the thing away. Recent events (so many!!) have made me feel this loud, angry, and terrified. I had to bring this one back for some peace of mind. No title as of yet. The most recent is #4 itself. Enjoy!

HERE'S ANOTHER ONE!!

AND we are getting closer! I've been using a better (newer) camera since I began this painting and an older (not so good) camera for the previous five, hence why it looks so much warmer (no pun intended) from #5 back....but the TRUE color is in image #6. I've not been able to keep up as well as I've wished (lots of issues at home), but this newest addition (#6) was done only a week ago and I've ben updating it slowly since. That means what you see here now is not the latest, but is closest to it. Enjoy!

Well...many personal/physical and family problems have kept me away from doing what I love best...while I wait to get back into form, I thought I'd share with the zillions of you (yea, right!) where I love to be most of all. :) My Studio, and current projects I'm working on. Enjoy!

"My Beautiful One"

I always have fun painting angels. Sometimes when I need consolation and can't find it at a certain time in another person I'll just make a painting of consolation, and it makes me feel better. I also hope it helps calm the viewer too. This piece was completed in 2004, and is now in the possession of my fiance.

"Fuck You All!"

Growing up, I never had a voice before. Then I took a painting class and found my voice. When I did this painting, it was meant as a deliberate "Fuck You!!" to bad things (and people) happening to me and my loved ones. And since this was my first most personally important painting, it had to be the backdrop for this blog. No one should ever have to be silent. This painting is now in the possession of my fiance.

"Omerta"

"Omerta" ("omit" in English) is the word used by the Mafia as a warning about keeping secrets hidden on pain of death. This was painted at the same time as "Fuck You All!" but is the exact opposite meaning. I was in this same position of having to keep my mouth shut to keep from making problems my loved ones were involved in from becoming even worse. I hated having to do this, so this painting was my outlet of the rage of keeping myself quiet on others' behalf. Both were finished in 2009, and hence why they were used as the avatar and background to form my personal dichotomy.
